THE LABORERS (LiUNA) WILL DO:

Laborers (LiUNA) build our nation’s infrastructure. As a Laborers, you will help build your community on such project as:

  • the Pittsburgh International Airport Modernization project. The project which began before passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will receive additional investment from the law. 
  • Laborers proudly helped build the St. Croix River Crossing Bridge. This bridge connects Minnesota State Highway 36 and Wisconsin State Highway 65. It also has four lanes of traffic and a bike path.
  • Laborers members are helping build the BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky. This is an Electric vehicle battery manufacturing campus for Ford and Lincoln vehicles. This will generate about 5,000 local jobs and increase investments in the region. 
  • Laborers members are building this historic project, which will bring natural gas to areas in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Maine and the Northeast U.S. that previously did not have access to natural gas.
  • Laborers will soon go to work on the Horse Heaven Clean Energy Center in Washington State, building a 1150MW wind, solar and battery facility under a project labor agreement, which will create nearly 1,000 jobs for trades workers and generate an estimated $260 million in revenue that will help fund local schools, roads, hospitals, and emergency services.

Other Job Responsibilities:

Carry out labor tasks on environmentally conscious construction sites, including those dedicated to renewable energy projects and wind turbine installations. Demolish structures or salvage valuable materials for reuse.  Recognize, secure, and transport materials that are hazardous or radioactive in nature.

 Assist in the installation, consolidation, or safeguarding concrete or masonry structures.

 Apply weather resistant seals to minimize energy wastage.

 Handle the transportation and placement of explosive materials for tunneling, shaft excavation, or road construction.

 Execute onsite tasks in accordance with environmentally friendly construction practices, which may involve waste management protocols, material identification for potential reuse, or the installation of erosion and sedimentation control measures.

 Undertake building weatherization assignments, such as window repairs, insulation additions, or the application of weather resistant materials.
